My own journey

I experienced a challenging digestive health journey that lasted about ten years. When I finally decided I no longer wanted to accept my daily pain, suffering, and discomfort, I understood I had to make a holistic change. Sadly and frustratingly, my medical doctors were unable to provide the support I was seeking, and I did not even know if what I needed actually existed, but I persisted. Thankfully, I found a functional wellness clinic that provided a variety of services, including a nutritional therapist practitioner. After only a few weeks of changing what I ate, I noticed a positive change in my body. I learned so much about histamine foods, and inflammatory foods, and I wondered, “Why have I never learned this?” I was so impressed with my body’s response that I was eager to learn more, so I decided to pursue a nutritional therapy program to dive deeper and to help others who are experiencing a similar challenge.

The challenge

Our bodies are intricate and complex machines. If you have a car and you “feed” it high quality gasoline and change its oil regularly, it will perform at an optimal degree and it will last you many years. Similarly, if your body is the vehicle and you feed your it nutrient-dense foods, you will give it what it needs to perform optimally.

According to The Evolution of a Modern Diet Student Guide, “Like all other organisms on the planet, human beings have been gifted with instincts that guide us towards foods and habits that help us survive and thrive. This innate wisdom often operates at a subconscious level, naturally guiding us toward optimal health and vitality through instinctual choices instead of rational thought” (Nutritional Therapy Association, 2020).

Unfortunately, “there have been a number of factors that have led to the modern disconnect between humans, their environment, and their food. For many of us, this means that our innate wisdom has become confused and less able to discern what we need to achieve optimal health. The imbalances created in the body and in our environment may cause us to crave foods and other substances that harm us rather than help” (Nutritional Therapy Association, 2020).

How I can help

As a nutritional therapist practitioner I can help you by encouraging and guiding you to become knowledgeable about and responsible for your own health. I want to help you reach your optimal level of health by supporting and bringing balance to the five foundations listed below:

  • Digestion
  • Blood sugar regulation
  • Fatty acids
  • Mineral balance
  • Hydration

These foundations are all built upon a single base: a properly prepared and nutrient-dense diet. By eating what the body actually needs, the body’s chemistry can be brought back into natural balance, setting the stage for optimal health. Your body, or “machine,” will be able to do what it’s designed to do! Eating nutrient-dense food will allow all of your bodily structures (anatomy) to perform their function (physiology) at their best.
